Studies
In some cases, peer review is mandatory. In others, it may be considered as a useful tool to improve the design regardless of the size or scope of the project. Kyōdynamics performs structural peer reviews of projects developed by other firms, providing an independent and unbiased peer review encompass a variety of structures, with emphasis in those aspects not explicitly covered by design specifications.
To facilitate improvements in the structural design, a peer review should be conducted as early as possible. It may result in more productive and cost-effective outcomes than waiting until the design is complete. Kyōdynamics will assist the owner and the design team in the implementation of peer review concepts.
Forensic engineering
Understanding the phenomenon of failure and structural collapse requires specialized knowledge and forensic investigation techniques since it is not the same process as design. For building and infrastructure projects, there are well established design specifications that provide guidance, however, other structures may require challenging considerations. Kyōdynamics collects data and investigates structural collapse providing an unbiased assessment of what the underlying causes may have been.
Complementary studies
Additionally, kyōdynamics performs the following complementary studies:
- Natural disaster mitigation and relief (earthquakes, tsunami, extreme winds, etc.).
- Seismic microzonation, simulation of seismic wave propagation, ground motion prediction and site response.
